I just gutted it, cleaned it up, and bought the driver board and power board. I tried to fix it but since I couldn't, I did the next best thing.

I bought the 24' iMac which didn't boot up and had it's hard drive removed, but the screen was fine apart from looking yellow with white backgrounds (since I use dark mode anyway it's not that noticeable, plus I use it for media consumption and gaming). You could "just" buy an empty retina 27 inch iMac chassis, and a suitable 27-inch screen (probably best to just buy a replacement iMac screen) along with associated driver/power board and it should work, as again from memory, I remember watching a vid of someone disassembling some sort of Dell 27 inch display and mounting it onto the iMac chassis (but he had to do some light modding to make sure the screen fits). When/if this breaks I'm going to gut a 27. I'm just happy to be able to re-use the chassis and it looks great. Plus I didn't solder the power button to the control board but I just have it attached to the rear of the iMac anyway and I haven't had the need to touch it after the initial config. I made the mistake of buying a power board that was too big to fit internally so I just have it outside of the display. At one time Final Cut Pro was running at 74.5% CPU and System_Profiler was running at 113.Click to expand.I bought the 24' iMac which didn't boot up and had it's hard drive removed, but the screen was fine apart from looking yellow with white backgrounds (since I use dark mode anyway it's not that noticeable, plus I use it for media consumption and gaming).

It prompted me to run Activity monitor which I did and I noticed that kernel_task was using 498.4% of CPU everything else was under 50%. Finally it also indicated that the machine has sharing services enabled that could be a security risk. There were 32bit apps on this machine and kernel extension that may not work in the future. It also indicated that there were unsigned files and EtreCheck took an unusually long time to run. The Heavy CPU Usage also indicated some processes are using an unusually high amount of CPU and Software performance problems indicated that software seems to be causing performance problems. It informed me that the Runaway process is using a large percentage of CPU. I installed the app Etrecheck like suggested. To open apple Message Icon also takes long to load. As I said to open a simple app like Adobe Acrobat takes about a minute or two to open. Besides its not just web searching that is slow. Its not my internet speed because I have Verizon Fios and updated to 1GB of speed. To open an application or document or even go to a webpage it takes a minute or two to open. So my issues with my IMAC is it runs very slow.
